Don’t Be Afraid to Start Over
Starting over can feel like standing at a daunting crossroads—whether it’s leaving behind a career, a relationship, or a phase of life you’ve outgrown. But it's not the end- it's a new beginning.
Embracing the new beginning is not always that easy. Whether it was our own choice or it happened for us.
I’ve been there. I’ve restarted my career, business, moved to new countries four times, built new relationships after separation, divorce and losses. I’ve felt scared, lonely— terrified, excited and empty every time.
I’ve asked myself the same thing: Will I make it? How do I get through this? Can I get through this?
And every time I have needed to decide that I will: I have always found a way and it always led to something better. So can you.
The growth and clarity comes through the challenges life throws us. Remember:
You’re never really starting from scratch. Every challenge, every setback, and every experience has prepared you to face this moment as a wiser, more capable version of yourself.
Facing new beginnings is a powerful phase. You get to re-write your story and start from a clean slate— let go of the thing you don’t want.
Fresh start is your chance to redefine what you want. Starting over is offering you to change what has been repeating in the past—it’s about asking yourself what truly matters, where you want to go, and what you want to create on the other side.
It’s okay to feel like a beginner again—scared, curious, maybe even unsure. Tolerate the uncomfortable feelings of uncertainty and frustration.
Here’s how I’ve learned to move forward when fear or the unknown and “not knowing how” feels overwhelming:
Pause, heal and reflect. Give yourself time. Heal and let go of what needs to be healed. Get clear on what you really want on the other side of this change. What’s important to you? Lean into that.
Take small steps. Break your journey into manageable pieces and trust it will take you forward. You don’t need to have it all figured out to begin.
Trust your resilience. You’ve overcome challenges before. This time is no different. Remind of yourself of your own hero’s journey.
Ask for support. Whether it’s friends, mentors, or professionals— it’s important to have a trusted people around you who help you rebuild.
Starting over isn’t about going back—it’s about creating something new, something better. Tolerate the uncomfortable feelings of uncertainty and frustration. Embrace the messy, beautiful process of starting over.
So take that first step. Because on the other side of that fear is the life you’re meant to create.
Is there something that is holding back from starting? Or are you starting over? Let me know in the comments.
Warmly, Jenni
